19 Weeks

In theory, 19 down with 21 to go! Here is our update:

Baby:
She is continuing to grow measuring 5.5-8 inches in length and anywhere from 7-12 ounces. I guess since she was 8 ounces last week during the ultra-sound she is likely more than that today! ;-) She is beginning to develop the inner ear and nerve endings making it possible for her to hear things around her like Mom's heartbeat, breathing, and voices. Noises become more clear and she'll be more likely to respond around week 24 or 26 when they are more fully developed...

Mom:
I am also continuing to grow. We ventured to the mall last night and found some maternity clothes sales, picking up some staple items like polos, t-shirts, and my first pair of slacks! As I told Grandma O tonight at dinner, the slacks are still a little big, but they are much more comfortable than my regular clothes even with the bella band.

This past weekend was fun. We were in Lacrosse, WI for Brad & Kerry's wedding. I'm not sure I have ever been to a wedding with so many little ones. There were a significant number of babies and toddlers with several of them belonging to our college friends. It was fun and even during the few cranky spells (amazingly very few) I kept getting more and more excited to meet our little one, be a mom, and watch Adam be a dad.

Monday night I had my first prenatal yoga class. It was a blast and I'm very excited to go again next week. There were about a dozen girls (all expecting) there in various stages of pregnancy. Everyone was very down to earth, open about the reality of what our bodies were going through, and friendly. Plus it was a workout for someone who took it pretty easy during the first trimester due to unnecessary fears!

I'm not sure, but I may be starting to feel her move... Every now and again I feel a flutter or a pulling sensation. Sometimes it kind of feels like a rippling action across my stomach. Is it gas? Is it ligaments stretching? Or is it our little girl wiggling around and enjoying her space? It was sporadic at first - a little here, little there, then nothing for a few days... But today I've felt it a half-dozen times, leading me to be very excited! I kind of figured I'd just know the first time I felt it, but so many things are changing and pulling that I really am not sure...

Dad:
Sarah's belly is starting to affect her sense of balance and in a way her sense of spacial relations. To tell you the truth, it's kind of funny watching her run into walls and fail to squeeze through the screen door to the deck. With all this klutziness, I just hope she doesn't bruise or else people will think I'm beating her. If I was to do something that horrible (which I would NEVER do), my sister had a way for me to get around it. When she found out Sarah was pregnant, she exclaimed, "I guess this means you can't punch Sarah in the gut anymore......Start kicking her in the thighs!" (Thanks for the tip sis).

Sarah seems to think she can feel the baby move, so hopefully I will be able to feel it soon as well. Hey sis, do you have any tips for the baby? Maybe something like "Start kicking her in the bladder?!?"
